23 - 24 Queen

BIO:

I’m currently a Sophomore at Saint Benedict College (St. Bens). During my reign of being Miss Czech-Slovak MN 2023-24, I have traveled across the state of Minnesota and surrounding states. It has been a fun year of going to parades, coronations, and other events. Some of my favorite events have been attending the Czech festivals in Cedar Rapids, IA, Wilber, NE, and Tabor, SD. I have had the privilege of gaining a more extensive understanding of my Czech heritage and culture. As the year has unfolded, my appreciation for my Czech heritage has deepened, and I take great pride in my 100% Czech descent. I am 7th generation on my mother’s side and 6th generation on my father’s side. Another aspect that I have really grown to appreciate is all the beautiful kroje (Czech authentic dresses), along with the continuous investment of time and skill required to create one. My mother, Tami Novak, hand-made my three kroje. My favorite one includes over 62,400 Czech glass seed beads. The biggest take away I have gained from being Miss Czech-Slovak MN is being proud of one’s culture and heritage, despite your background. Advice I would give to future candidates is to conduct thorough research to enhance their understanding of their culture. It is crucial to acquire as much knowledge as possible, with an emphasis on preserving and carrying out traditions.

23 - 24 1st First Princess

BIO:

Current Senior at St. Peter High School, where she has participated in Cross Country, Wrestling, and Track. She has been in Choir all four years as well. Lexi is involved Nicollet County 4H and shows Dairy. This fall she will be attending Baker University in Baldwin City, KS where she has committed to wrestle. She plans to major in Nursing.

Lexi’s Czech Heritage comes from her mom’s side of the family, who are all from Montgomery Area. Lexi’s Great-Grandparents use to own and run the Montgomery movie theater. Most of her ancestors came from Kolence and Trebon which are located Southern Bohemia in the Blata Region.
